about
As Paul describes it, the “song was written about a fight I had with a girl about my seemingly constant drinking. We had gone to bed, still angry, and neither one of us could sleep. The only source of light in the room was the tiny red light on the TV that means it’s turned off. The lyric is really the unspoken conversation we had while staring at that light.”
lyrics
Red light is always glowing
Without you ever knowing
And now you come to meet me
To watch myself defeat me
Then we just sit in silence
Look at me
Everything will be alright I know it
Look at me
Even if it won't You'll never show it
Look at me
Red light is always peeping
When we should both be sleeping
No need to come on over
I'll just pretend I'm sober
With an unconscious silence
It's not a ghost, it's not a ghost
It's just a sheet
And a continued silence
